Whats about?
Choreographer Hur Yun-kyung’s performance studies the body in its surrounding space. It’s about the relationships we have with space. ’Skin-ship’ describes physical contacts between people in ‘Konglish’ (Korean-English). ‘Space-ship’ is an analogy of ‘Skin-ship’. She asks questions about relationships and visualizes space as a large body.
What were the overall goals?
The location of the performance was the former Seoul station, a historic place right in center of Seoul. Through this location, artists and audience could develop a perfect feeling for the meaning of this performance.
What was my job on this project?
For this project I had been responsible in developing graphics and typographic design. On developing the graphical concept, I focused on visualizing movements of the performers in space. The graphics got used on advertisement, posters, printed leaflet and intro graphics for the website. On the graphical design concept I worked together with the illustrator Yeo Daha and the photographer Ok Sang-hoon.
How did my service help on this project?
The graphic design helped to communicate with the target audience. The project sold enough ticket and gathered the audience.
What did I do that the project got successful?
The graphical design concept (a complex visualization that combines illustrations, text, and photographs) I presented got positive feedback from the performers and the audience.
